Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress University Students Essay Contest

1st National University Essay Contest


The Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress and Pietro Fiorentini Tanzania are proud to support the educational sector of Tanzania by inviting leading universities with engineering programmes to participate and share opinions with governments and operators.

The need for Tanzanian professionals in the areas of engineering, geology, oil and gas exploration and development is becoming very important for the sustainable development of Tanzania’s economy, and therefore more universities are being urged to open related academic programmes.

Each participant should choose one of the three themes below:

  1. The theme of the contest:
  • Which strategies Tanzania needs to implement to be positioned as a global oil and gas hub?
  • What the role of Local Content is in ensuring Tanzanians benefit from the oil and gas sector in a win-win situation?
  • How can Tanzania use its oil and gas resources to successfully diversify the national economy?
  1. The essay should have no more than 1500 words
  2. The essay should include:
    1. Introduction: Indication of the main topics for the essay
    2. Development of concepts: Argument development and bibliography
    3. Conclusion: final ideas and essay wrap up

The essays should be sent, together with proof of university enrolment, to Tiago Marques, to the email tmarques@thecwcgroup.com. The deadline is 18th September 2018.

Award: The author of the winning essay will have the opportunity to be participating at the Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress and will also receive a scholarship to attend the 3 full days of Gas & LNG Contracts course, taking place 12 – 14 November, in Maputo, Mozambique.

The winner and the 2 runner ups will also have access to Norwell Edge Training Platform for 12 months, courtesy of Norwell Edge.
