Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress University Students Essay Contest

1st National University Essay Contest

 

Winners have now been selected for the Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress Student Essay Contest. The entries were of extremely high level, and the results are as follows:

Winner: Daudi Leonard Mkilindi, University of Dar es Salaam

1st runner up: Evidius Eustad, University of Dodoma

2nd runner up: Paul Michael Mpazi, The Law School of Tanzania.

The author of the winning essay will have the opportunity to be participate at the Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress and will also receive a scholarship to attend the 3 full days of Gas & LNG Contracts course, taking place 12 – 14 November, in Maputo, Mozambique.

The Tanzania Oil & Gas Congress and Pietro Fiorentini Tanzania are proud to support the educational sector of Tanzania by inviting leading universities with engineering programmes to participate and share opinions with governments and operators.

Students were invited to submit an essay focusing on the solutions to challenges in Tanzania’s oil and gas sectors:

  • Which strategies Tanzania needs to implement to be positioned as a global oil and gas hub?
  • What the role of Local Content is in ensuring Tanzanians benefit from the oil and gas sector in a win-win situation?
  • How can Tanzania use its oil and gas resources to successfully diversify the national economy?

The need for Tanzanian professionals in the areas of engineering, geology, oil and gas exploration and development is becoming very important for the sustainable development of Tanzania’s economy, and therefore more universities are being urged to open related academic programmes.
